UK’s Flagship SAF Project “Lighthouse Green Fuels” relocates to Larger Seal Sands Site
On the sidelines of the Airlines 2025 Conference, Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF) – Alfanar Projects’ pioneering Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project – announced plans to relocate to a larger neighboring site in Seal Sands, Teesside.
The move secures a more strategic footprint for the project and enhances the project’s operational and decarbonization ambitions in the region.
As the UK’s most advanced second-generation SAF project and the largest of its kind globally, LGF will benefit from enhanced access to key infrastructure including rail, road, and marine transport.
By consolidating the whole SAF production process on one site, the relocation will streamline operations, increase resilience, and support a robust local supply chain.
Additionally, the new site places the project closer to Teesside’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) network, which will enable the production of carbon-negative SAF, delivering lifecycle emissions reduction of 200% compared to conventional jet fuel.
During his keynote, Eng. Noaman Al Adhami, UK Country Manager, also unveiled the project’s refreshed brand and new website, which is an important milestone in communicating the project’s growing mission to partners and the public.
“Our new site in Seal Sands gives LGF the connectivity and industrial integration we need to scale rapidly and responsibly. This step accelerates our ability to build a full-chain SAF hub in Teesside and help decarbonize aviation at scale in line with the UK’s 2050 net-zero vision,” said Eng. Noaman Al Adhami.
