Alfanar Engineering Services Successfully Repairs a 54-Year-Old Synchronous Motor for Aramco
Alfanar Engineering Services has achieved a significant milestone by successfully executing the rehabilitation and commissioning of an ASEA synchronous motor at an Aramco facility. Originally manufactured in 1972, the motor has been relied upon for decades as a critical operational asset.
With OEM support discontinued, spare parts unavailable, and repair work no longer feasible by the original manufacturer, this posed a complex technical and operational challenge for Aramco, who entrusted Alfanar Engineering Services with delivering this critical project.
Leveraging its advanced engineering expertise and structured methodology, the team implemented a comprehensive rehabilitation program. This included conducting an in-depth technical assessment of the motor, performing detailed inspections, re-engineering key components, selecting suitable materials for manufacturing the required spare parts, and developing a clear execution plan to address the challenge with high efficiency.
The rehabilitation scope covered stator and rotor rewinding, restoration of the insulation system, and full refurbishment of the excitation system. All stages were carried out with high precision and in accordance with stringent quality control standards, ensuring optimal reliability and long-term performance.
Commenting on this achievement, Eng. Sattam Almotairi, COO of Alfanar Engineering Services, stated: “This achievement reflects our team’s ability to deliver complex, high-demand maintenance projects and the trust our clients place in us as a reliable partner. It highlights our strong collaboration, commitment to operational excellence, and depth of engineering expertise. It also drives us to continuously enhance our capabilities, adopt advanced technologies, and deliver sustainable solutions that meet evolving client needs and reinforce our role as a strategic partner.”
