Alfanar Group Highlights the Strategic Role of Local Content at PIF Private Sector Forum

A momentum within Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation and national priorities, Alfanar Group reinforced its commitment to advancing in-Kingdom value creation through its participation in the Public Investment Fund (PIF) Private Sector Forum.

Representing Alfanar Group, Eng. Amer Al Ajmi, Chief Executive Officer of Alfanar Engineering Services, joined a main stage executive conversation alongside the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority’s Deputy Governor for Partnerships and Capability Building, Eng. Mohammed Al Qahtani and Eng. Fahad Al Salem, Head of the Local Content Growth Program (MUSAHAMA). The session, titled “Local Content and Its Impact on the Private Sector,” brought together senior leaders to examine how national capabilities are shaping the Kingdom’s next phase of economic growth.

The participation reflects Alfanar Group's continued contribution to strengthening domestic industries, advancing technological innovation, and enabling Saudi talent to compete globally, an approach aligned with the Group’s commitment to supporting national development and building future-ready sectors.

During the discussion, Eng. Amer addressed a common misconception that local content initiatives inherently increase costs. Highlighting the Group’s innovation-driven strategy, he referenced the launch of the Smart RMU, an SF6-free solution developed as intellectual property by Saudi engineers and now supplied to European markets. The milestone reflects the impact of sustained investment in research and development, technology ownership, and the advancement of national capabilities.

Commenting on the broader economic impact, Eng. Amer stated, “Local content is not a cost; it is a catalyst for global competitiveness, enabling Saudi innovation, empowering national talent, and positioning ‘Saudi Made’ products to lead international markets.” He emphasized that local content should be viewed as a strategic enabler rather than a financial burden, accelerating innovation, strengthening national expertise, and enhancing the international positioning of Saudi industries.
