Alfanar Group Participates as Strategic Plus Sponsor at Saudi Arabian Smart Grid Conference 2025
As part of its ongoing commitment to driving innovation in the energy sector,
Alfanar Group participated as a Strategic Plus Sponsor at the 13th edition of the Saudi Arabian Smart Grid Conference 2025, held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh from December 15 to 17, 2025, under the patronage of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Energy.
Held under the theme “Driving Innovation and Sustainability”, the conference was inaugurated by Eng. Nasser bin Hadi Al Qahtani, Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, in the presence of senior government officials and industry leaders. In his opening speech, he emphasized the conference’s role as a key platform for showcasing advanced smart grid technologies and solutions, highlighting their importance in supporting the global energy transition and the Kingdom’s objectives related to energy efficiency, sustainability, and digital transformation.
Alfanar’s exhibition stand attracted strong interest from visitors, including H.E. Eng. Nasser bin Hadi Al-Qahtani, Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, and several distinguished officials. Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman of Alfanar, welcomed visitors alongside executive leadership from the Projects and Electric sectors. Discussions focused on Alfanar’s localization strategy for smart grid products and solutions, including SF₆-free Smart Ring Main Units (RMUs), Distribution and Substation Automation Systems (DASA), cybersecurity solutions, and key HVDC components supporting high-capacity power transmission and grid modernization.
As part of the conference program, Alfanar contributed to two panel discussions. The first panel, “Stories of Success in the Energy Industry,” represented by Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman of Alfanar, while Eng. Amer Al Ajmi, Chief Executive Officer of Alfanar Engineering Services, shared executive insights during the second panel titled “Executive Perspective on Grid Modernization.”
During the conference, alfanar Engineering Services signed a strategic agreement with Schneider Electric, with Eng. Sattam Al Motairi, Chief Operating Officer, represented the company during the signing ceremony.
In addition, sponsors were recognized for their contributions to the conference, with an honorary plaque received on behalf of Alfanar by Eng. Abdullah Al Sulami, General Manager of Power Solutions & Services at alfanar Electric.
Alfanar also delivered a technical workshop titled “Smart Grid Technologies,” presented by Eng. Yaser Almasabi, R&D Manager for Medium Voltage at Alfanar Electric. The session highlighted the critical role of SF₆-free medium-voltage technologies in accelerating the development of smart grids.
The 2025 edition of SASG witnessed strong participation, featuring 891 speakers, 959 workshops, and 320 sponsors and exhibitors, attracting more than 59,000 visitors and energy professionals from across the regional power sector.
