Alfanar Projects Delivers Flagship PV Plant for Saudi Water Authority
Supporting the Saudi Water Authority's efforts to secure clean and sustainable water resources, Alfanar Projects successfully delivered a flagship photovoltaic plant that powers the largest reverse osmosis (RO) desalination facilities in Jubail.
This landmark project supports Vision 2030 by reducing 75,000 tons of CO₂ annually and saving 38.3 million m³ of energy valued at nearly SAR 20 million. Spanning 39 hectares with over 93,000 solar panels, the PV plant generates 55 MW of clean energy, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s sustainability, water security, and energy efficiency goals.
Eng. Basil Alhakami, Regional Executive Manager, Alfanar Projects, said: “We are proud to partner with the Saudi Water Authority in transforming the Jubail plant into a sustainable model, enhancing water distribution reliability, cutting reliance on conventional energy, boosting renewables, and reducing emissions to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s water supply.”
