Alfanar Projects Hosts Swedish Embassy Delegation for Strategic Talks
Alfanar Projects continues to advance its global energy collaboration, recently welcoming a high-level delegation from the Swedish Embassy in Saudi Arabia to Medinet Alfanar (Alfanar Industrial City) in Riyadh.
The company’s management, led by Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman of Alfanar and Managing Director of Alfanar Projects, hosted H.E. Ms. Petra Menander, Ambassador of Sweden to the Kingdom, alongside Mr. Björn Halvarsson, Deputy Head of Mission, and Ms. Zahrah Batool, Trade Promotion Officer.
The discussions revolved around several strategic areas that are essential to the global energy transition. One of these was battery storage and its critical role in ensuring grid stability. Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq indicated that Saudi Arabia has become a regional leader in advancing these technologies.
The company has explored High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission as a vital enabler of efficient, long-distance power transfer. This technology has become increasingly relevant as grids modernize to accommodate higher shares of renewable generation.
Additionally, renewable energy was a central theme throughout the meeting, with the Swedish delegation expressing strong appreciation for Alfanar Projects' portfolio and its alignment with long-term sustainability goals.
H.E. Ms. Menander and her delegation also expressed keen interest in Alfanar Global Development (AGD), seeking to understand the scope and nature of the company's investment activities. Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq clarified that AGD's primary focus remains firmly on renewable energy projects, underscoring the company's dedication to sustainability across every market in which it operates.
Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq reflected on the significance of the engagement, stating: "This meeting ensures the idea that energy transition is best advanced through purposeful international dialogue. Sweden's leadership in sustainable energy and our dedication to building resilient, clean energy infrastructure make this dialogue genuine and lasting potential."
