The Summit convened biomass suppliers, technology providers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to discuss the practical and commercial routes for biomass-to-fuels deployment.

During the summit, Dr. Simon Owens, Director of Engineering & Technical at Lighthouse Green Fuels, joined a panel titled “Commercializing new pathways for SAF production.” Simon discussed the critical issues of biomass procurement, evolving SAF mandates, the role and boundaries of first-generation biofuels, and the technological readiness required to scale advanced pathways.

Moreover, Owens reinforced the project’s development milestones and its place in the UK SAF landscape. Lighthouse Green Fuels is being developed as a refinery-scale SAF facility that will process more than 1.5 million tons of forestry, sawmill, and agricultural residues into approximately 180 million liters of SAF each year.

Commenting on LGF participation, Simon Owens said, “These kinds of events help bring the market together and build the relationships needed to deliver SAF at the rates that aviation needs. Its message is central to LGF’s mission to help decarbonize aviation and advance net-zero goals in the UK.”
