Lighthouse Green Fuels Showcases SAF Progress at Innovate UK SAF Café Webinar
Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF), developed by Alfanar Projects, participated in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Innovation Program (SAF IP) SAF Café series webinar,
where Dr. Simon Owens, Director of Engineering & Technical at Alfanar Projects, joined as a guest speaker and presented the LGF project to attendees.
During the session, Dr. Owens highlighted LGF’s role as the UK’s first commercial-scale, second-generation SAF plant, being developed at a fully integrated site in Teesside and designed to produce up to 180 million liters of SAF per year using gasification and Fischer–Tropsch technologies.
The webinar also spotlighted the Department for Transport’s Advanced Fuels Fund and how the latest award is supporting progress toward key milestones, including FEED completion expected in Q1, advances toward a CCS connection to enable carbon-negative SAF, ongoing PMC and EPC development, and preparations for project financing ahead of a targeted FID in mid-2027.
